Tourism in Normandy: Deauville

Discover the capital of Norman charm

The festival season takes place in September in Deauville, but it is a rich city in all seasons we are delighted to put the spotlight on for you.

Deauville

An hour and a half’s drive from McArthurGlen Paris-Giverny is the resort of Deauville, an elegant seaside town with a 643-metre wooden promenade and fine-sand beach.

This wooden promenade has become mythic with the famous film from Claude Lelouch “Une homme et une femme” in 1966.

Throughout its three-century history, Deauville has managed to change with the times, all the while successfully preserving its cultural and architectural heritage, with the best example: the Normandy.

The town is now full of life all-year-round, with a full calendar of fun, cultural and athletic events. If you decide to stop by, a leisurely walk along the beach and promenade is a must.

You can then dine at one of the town’s quintessential Norman restaurants, serving local cheeses, terroir dishes à la crème, fresh seafood, cider, ‘pommeau’ and calvados apple brandy.

Sporting enthusiasts can book a game at one of the town’s four local golf clubs or time their visit to coincide with one of several annual horse racing events.

And in September, the glamour is back in town with the famous American film festival, an event to be experienced at least once in your live.
