New at Château La Coste 2022

A permanent work by Bob Dylan on the Art and Architecture trail.

Rail Car - an immersive installation of wrought iron freight cars set on railway tracks - incorporates prominent motifs from Dylan's art, while also referencing aspects of his past.

The converted freight car he incorporated into the sculpture is a WIIX 723 double-door boxcar used to transport rolls of paper for Willamette Industries, an Oregon-based lumber and paper company. Work on Rail Car began in summer 2019, involving teams of engineers from France and the US.

Oscar Niemeyer Auditorium

Set in the heart of a Vermentino vineyard, the new pavilion houses an exhibition space and an auditorium. It is accessed by a walkway that opens onto a large curved glass façade and leads to a space of 380 square metres. The curved pavilion, emblematic of Niemeyer's organic and sensual architecture, perfectly matches the rolling vineyards of this Provencal hillside. The impressive glass façade gives the impression that the vines extend into the building, while the water feature at the entrance plays with reflections and light.
